"The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education."
- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Early Childhood Education Director
I am proud to introduce myself as the Director of the Mosaic Pre-K Centers for many reasons. It is our mission to provide a stable, nurturing environment where our students learn not only academically but socially and emotionally as well. We focus on each child's individual needs to ensure every student progresses to their highest potential, through play, and, the services we provide for them. We understand the importance of the work we do and strive to provide the highest level of instruction for our children. I consider my position as Director an honor to serve you and your children in providing the best education possible. It is always a pleasure to hear back from parents how well their child has adjusted to Kindergarten after stepping up from Mosaic.
Meet our Administrative Team
My name is Jamie Vetter and I have been with the NYCDOE for the past 21 years. As an educator and a former early childhood teacher, I truly believe that the earliest years of schooling is where we make the most impressions on young minds. There is nothing more joyful to me than instilling a love of learning in a young child and watching them grow during the process.
I began my career 36 years ago as an early childhood classroom teacher. After 10 years, I transitioned into the role of a Pre-K Instructional Coordinator and presently I am an assistant principal for the Mosaic Pre-K Centers. My scope of work ranges from ensuring all classrooms and staff are equipped with instructional materials, curriculum and pedagogy practices that meets the NYCDOE standards and expectations of a high-quality program. Children's development, curiosity and joyfulness is of the utmost importance to me. I also pride myself on building strong family relationships as partners in education.
I have been working with the NYCDOE for 18 years to support students and families in their quest for a quality educational experience. Much of my experience has been in the classroom, in particular the early childhood setting. Five years ago I graciously accepted the assistant principal position for the Mosaic Pre- K Center. My work includes; leading teachers in creating a space where best practice in early-childhood lives and supporting families in navigating their child's school life. My hope is that all of the children in our program thrive because the adults around them are working collaboratively to support them in each and every way possible.
My name is Liz Regan. My lifelong passion has been in the field of educating young children. My education includes a BA in Early Childhood Education and a MA in Reading. Throughout my career I have had the privilege to work closely with the teachers, students, and families of both Brooklyn and Queens. Together we have partnered to provide students with the tools and opportunities needed to become successful adults. In the NYCDOE I have served in the roles of student, teacher, literacy coach, early childhood instructional coordinator and citywide staff developer. I strongly believe in the power of a quality early childhood program and its ability to positively impact our students' futures. As a Mosaic Pre-K assistant principal I believe it is our responsibility to preserve the magic of childhood and I am thrilled to be part of the exceptional Mosaic team.
